Major Jessica Guerra is the Education Officer and Assistant Professor of Aerospace
Studies at Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 835, University of
North Texas. She is responsible for detachment operations to include cadet personnel
actions, administration management, host and crosstown university collaboration as
well as recruiting, motivating, and educating over 100 highly qualified Air and Space
Force officer candidates across 11 universities in the Dallas Fort Worth metropolitan
area.
She attended Texas A&M University Corpus Christi where she obtained her Bachelor’s
in English and enlisted in the United States Air Force. She earned her Associates
in Airway Science from the Community College of the Air Force and served as an Air
Traffic Controller. She obtained her Master of Aeronautical Science Degree with a
specialization in Space Studies from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and commissioned
in 2013. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2018, earning a Doctor of
Education in Applied Educational Studies with a focus on Aviation and Space Education.
Maj Guerra has flown in support of counter drug operations in US SOUTHCOM, U.S. Air
Defense Sectors, Live Fire Exercises, Humanitarian efforts for Hurricane Harvey and
Search and Rescue Operations, Operation NOBLE EAGLE, Higher Headquarters and Joint
Chief of Staff directed taskings, Checkered Flag and Red Flag Exercises in the E-3
Airborne Warning and Control System.
Prior to her current position, Major Guerra served as Director of Personnel, 552nd
Flying Training Wing, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. She led a 7-person A1 Wing
Staff Agency directing military and civilian promotions, awards, and professional
education programs. She served as the Wing CC's liaison to host Wing's Military and
Civilian Personnel Sections, 15 AF/A1 and ACC/A1 programs. She advised 20 commanders
on personnel admin for a 4,076-person Wing. Additionally, she maintained basic mission
capable status for immediate worldwide deployment as an E-3 Evaluator Navigator.
