Captain Sarah Garvin is the Operations Flight Commander and Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies at Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 835, University of North Texas, in Denton, Texas. She is responsible for advocating the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps mission of developing leaders for tomorrow's Air Force. She currently works to keep daily Cadet Wing Operations running smoothly for over 80 students.
Captain Garvin received her commission via Officer Training School in 2015. She is a Logistics Readiness Officer having served as Flight Commander of multiple flights at the Aerial Port Squadron at Dover Air Force Base. She was directly responsible for leading a flight of 220 Airmen and civilians, managing daily operations at the Department of Defense's largest Air Freight Terminal valued at $79.6 million, and ensuring the 24/7 processing and loading of 84,000 tons of cargo and 5,000 passengers on 3,400 missions annually. Her team was directly responsible for many high priority transportation missions such as moving the world's sole Ebola vaccine, transporting deep water search and rescue equipment to recover downed aircraft, and coordinating Negatively Pressurized Conex's for safe patient transportation during the Coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, Captain Garvin served as the Assistant Installation Deployment Officer at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. In this capacity she supervised the 6th Airlift Wing's deployment and humanitarian requirements. Her team was directly responsible for the coordination of 45 Hurricane Maria Relief missions where they lead the transportation of 449 passengers and 430 tons of emergency aid ultimately providing vital support to 3.6 million civilians.
